When Christ faced His coming death on the cross, He asked His Father to lift the terrible burden. As He faced the terrible suffering, Jesus prayed, “Nevertheless not my will, but thine be done” (Luke 22:42).
As Christians, we must also be willing to accept that which comes from the “Father’s hand”, even if we do not fully understand the reasons for the hardship.
Grief and suffering come to all of us. When we lose a loved one, a job, of other painful experience, we can experience encouragement knowing that the Lord is with us and that He will allow the situation to go only so far.
When we confront circumstances that trouble us, we must trust our Heavenly Father’s love and wisdom. When we are worried, we must turn those worries over to Him. When we are anxious, we must be still and listen to the quiet voice of assurance that God is listening and working on our behalf.
- “Commit your activities to the Lord, and your plans will be achieved.” Proverbs. 16:3
